#DAW17 is here! 1 weekend, 2 nights, camping together with other Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers from across the District. A weekend packed full of activities you don’t want to miss!
Beavers & Cubs have a selection of onsite bases to take part in and have the opportunity to experience nights under canvas. Scouts & Explorers will be traveling offsite to take part in some water-based activities in Milton Keynes!
Dates: Friday 12th to Sunday 14 May 2017
Optional Setup Evening: Thursday 11th May 2017
Venue: Bromham Scout Activity Centre.
The Activity Centre/campsite is approx 40 minutes north of Hitchin. Directions will be provided nearer the event.

At the District Camp in 2012 we had 239 Beavers, Cubs and Scouts attend over the weekend. In 2014 we had 304 young people attend over the weekend. This year we are expecting 350 Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to be camping under canvas on Friday and/or Saturday and we are expecting another 150 Beavers for an activity day on Saturday – which totals 500 young people from Hitchin onsite (that’s over half the District!) so thank you to everyone for their support, it should be a fantastic weekend.
The DAW17 Guide:
We have included in this information pack everything we think Groups will need to know about DAW17. We know it’s quite long and detailed, but we think it’s best that you have as much information as possible – even if it’s too much! Some of this information you will need to pass onto your parents.
As you would expect with a large number of people on site, a lot of planning has already taken place to help ensure the activities run as smoothly as possible. We would ask that you help by following any directions listed in this document, such as Bromham’s Campsite rules and the activity start times. Keeping to time will help the weekend to run smoothly.
Car Park – Arrival & Departure:
Please follow the instructions and times detailed in the DAW17 Guide about arrival and departure at the site. At some points during the weekend, there could be up to 300 people arriving and departing from the site at the same time. These instructions are provided to ensure the safety of your Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. We have tried to stagger arriving and departing times where possible to ease congestion.
Leaders/adults staying overnight are asked to park in the bottom car park and will be provided a car parking pass to do so. Please do not use this car park just to drop off Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
